Since the age of industrialization, the Southeast Asian region struggled to find its footing among the global industrialization leaders due to the lack of investments across varied sectors such as oil and gas, power generation, and manufacturing. Although significant developments have been carried out across these sectors, the shortage of industrial services still stands tall as a significant hurdle in the pathway to sustainability.

Responding to this shortage is Vivablast, a pioneer in providing industrial services across Southeast Asia. Operating since 1994 in Vietnam, Vivablast started out with a fundamental set of services in protective coating, insulation, and scaffolding; currently specializing in renewable energy, the company addresses the diverse set of requirements from oil and gas, power generation, and other industrial sectors. Vivablast, as a longtime Brownfield Maintenance Contractor for power generation, aligned itself with the renewable sector after witnessing the exponential rise of renewable power development in Vietnam. As renewables utilize industrial services connected to oil and gas and power, the company was able to easily develop and provide relevant services in the renewable segment while offering their largest fleets of technicians in rope access across Southeast Asia.

The accessibility of Vivablast’s services across the entire Southeast Asian region brings added value to the company along with the comprehensive support that it provides on both technical and commercial ends for its clients. Each of the Vivablast team’s technicians is skilled across multiple disciplines, allowing the company to bring a smaller cross-functional team to a project location, thereby enabling them to meet the turnkey requirements of their clients. “Our multidiscipline team allows us to exercise flexibility in our work through verticalization or horizontalization of our services, depending on the trade,” says Boris Vivares, Vivablast Group General Director. Over the span of 25 years, Vivablast’s services have constantly evolved from a surface protection specialist to a Brownfield Mechanical Maintenance Contractor and EPC player for infrastructure and renewable energy.

Through its Green Solutions initiative, Vivablast, as a company reliant on the use of chemicals and paint products, oversees the amount of product and chemicals invested in a project to avoid excessive consumption. They also limit rejection and disposal, as chemical waste is difficult to discard. “We continuously try to develop technological and industrial solutions while utilizing biodegradable or water-based products, there by avoiding the use of solvents that cannot be disposed correctly,” says Shanthamani Muthukumar, Vivablast Vietnam General Manager.

Vivablast’s efforts within their Green Solutions program further benefit from its development of services under renewable activities. Because of a dearth of specialists in the country, the local industries resort to recruiting engineers and technicians externally.

However, cross-border restrictions due to COVID-19 became a major bottleneck for them, delaying project lead times as a result. Now with Vietnam-based Vivablast in the picture as an industrial services provider supporting its industrial players and providing technicians locally for them as a part of its renewable development activities, the country no longer needs to depend on external providers to comply with renewable policies.

  • VIVABLAST has displayed its competitive advantage in terms of proficiency of coating services and providing manpower to factories overseas for several successful projects,” says Vivares.

What sets the company leagues ahead of any competition is its ability to go the extra mile to analyze the marketplace and implement strategies accordingly by integrating additional services. Vivablast understands that to be recognized among major players, they need to make every effort possible and provide an equivalent level of training to their people as well as meet the same terms of requirements as the industry giants.

Always eager to make progress, Vivablast does not shy away from investing in intangible assets such as training. After observing the lack of training facilities in Vietnam, the company recognized the need to develop training centers and vocational schools to ensure a well-trained workforce. Vivablast has spent nearly 300,000 Euros for the training of its technicians in renewable activities, thereby providing the level of international standard that clients seek in the development of their projects.

With Vivablast’s technicians dedicated to learning and improving continuously, the company has been able to prove time and time again its ability to deliver outstanding services. As a result, Vivablast has also received several recommendations and recurring projects, with their latest achievement being awarded the Asian Wind Energy Leadership Rewards for their contribution to renewables.

“As we continue to grow and improve our strategy, we further develop our local workforce in better ways to ultimately become the preferred contractor for all the major players that we work with,” says Muthukumar. With a Vietnamese-style workforce and multicultural international management, Vivablast aims to extend its services to other major companies worldwide.
